Ilkeston Race Team were extremely proud to represent both Derby Arena and the whole of Ilkeston CC at the arena today, supporting England Hockey with their Super 6s Finals event!

The arena was packed with over 1000 spectators and fans alike and the atmosphere was electric!
Rolling around with team jerseys on really got the fans excited!

Speaking of electric – we had the new electric Derney bike out for a spin with our very own Phil “Brownie” Brown as pilot!

We were asked to perform two “Keirin” races, these are typically 6 riders (we broke the rules with 8!) who all start from a standing (once again, we broke this rule the 2nd time but who’s checking?!) start on the rail by the start line and once the whistle blows, the riders have a set number of laps following the Derney before it pulls off and it’s straight into full blown sprints until the finish 🤯

A fantastic time was had by all and we’re so chuffed to have been chosen to represent ourselves but also Derby Arena, further cementing our great relationship with them.
