Following the huge success of last year’s inaugural event, Ilkeston Cycle Club and Spondon Cycle Club will again be jointly organising their Charity Midsummer Audax on Sunday 22nd June, the longest Sunday in the year.
We had around 100 riders taking part last year and raised a huge sum for the Alzheimer’s Society, this year we hope to get even more out riding and even more in donations. The feedback from riders was fantastic but we are hoping that this year will take on board a few suggestions and be even more enjoyable.
This year, we’re going slightly bigger and very much better with a choice of tons; 100km or 100 miles.
What we would love to achieve is a hundred hundreds ridden on the same day! Are YOU up to the challenge? In years to come, do you want to look back and wish that you had been part of something which promises to go down in both club’s history as legendary?
The format will be very much the same; setting off from the Queen’s Head in Ockbrook, halfway between Spondon and Ilkeston, you will ride entirely new routes, with everyone stopping at one fantastic cafe so there will be plenty of chances to interact with other riders and even swap groups or distances if that is needed.
We have a wicked little twist towards the end with a challenge for who can be quickest on the day up the final hill, then it’s back to the Queen’s Head for refreshments, swapping stories and toasting success.
Routes will be sent out to entrants closer to the date
You need to RSVP below AND you MUST make a minimum £5 donation to the Alzheimer’s Society via the link below:
